The Sunday XI have gone top of the league with a resounding 80 run win against a youthful and spirited Worksop CC.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Mark Dean and Ed Foulds opened, building a solid foundation. This enabled Tim Foulds and James Davies to hit the rapid accelerator button, with support from Evan Bownes towards the end of the innings.
We finished on 181-7, with James Davies top scoring at 61 after giving us a Jos Butler like performance.
Zak Berridge and Jasper Dennison opened the bowling attack, hitting good areas without any luck at all, but completely slowing down their scoring rate. Following on from Zak, Tim Foulds came on to bowl and ripped through the opposition's batting order taking 7 wickets for not many runs at all!!! The highlight of this spell was Ed Foulds' fantastic, sharp catch at short leg. Callum McCarthy also bowled nicely, taking 1-30 from 7 overs. Worksop CC were bowled all out for 103 runs.
An outstanding 20 point win for the unbeaten Sunday XI leaves us 7 points clear at the top of the league. We look forward to trying to extend this streak next weekend, away at Norton Oakes CC.
